A Real Estate Story

When I first walked into the house, it was clear this wasn’t just a real estate transaction—it was a family in crisis.
The mom had recently passed away, and she’d struggled with hoarding in her later years. The two adult sons and her ex-husband were doing their best, but the grief, the clutter, and the emotional weight of it all had left them completely overwhelmed. They didn’t know where to start.
So we started together.
I brought in a crew of kind-hearted helpers—friends, volunteers, professionals—and slowly, carefully, we began to clear the home. My daughter Layne and I rolled up our sleeves and painted six rooms ourselves. We had the cigarette smoke professionally remediated. We cleaned, cleared, cried a little, and eventually transformed the house into something bright and welcoming again.
We staged it, listed it, and received multiple offers—during the height of COVID.
But honestly, the win wasn’t the sale.
The win was helping this family breathe again.
They’d been stuck. And I just happened to have the experience—and the heart—to guide them through it.
I share this because real estate isn’t always glossy brochures and granite countertops. Sometimes, it’s walking into a situation that feels impossible and offering a steady hand, a warm heart, and a clear path forward.
